Love can be joyful and painful. When I document the latter I like to poke fun at the melodrama of it all and humor does its magical work of easing the misery. This piece's setting is specific to my experience as an artist but can easily translate to many similar environmental situations.
At this time, my boyfriend was also an artist, so when we broke up, I knew that we would still both be going to many of the same Art Gallery Openings and social events, much awkwardness and dread to ensue ! I had to face this truth.
The good news was that soon after we reconciled. We spent 14 mostly great years together and though apart today, we are still best friends. Humor can be a powerful force in coping with "hard" things- Art is a powerful thing, I get to paint a lot of my pain away...
